The New eBay Simple Delivery.
Whenever changes happen, there is an instinctive feeling that it’s going to be a problem. Introducing eBay Simple Delivery. We’ve been doing eBay for many years, and like most things, we have our system, with delivery being a very important part of the process. As a general rule, we have always used Royal Mail 48 Drop Off. It’s secure, tracked and just works fine.
So when eBay announced that they were introducing Simple Delivery, there was quite an uproar on Social Media. Some were saying they don’t like being forced into using Evri, others the same about Royal Mail. And yes I get it, as I said before, no one likes change, much the same as eBay introducing “Buyers Protection Fees”. But here’s the thing, eBay is a vast global Market Place, it’s their platform, so they can do whatever they like. Sellers can either adapt or not use it.
Why Did I Use Royal Mail Exclusively?

For us, it always felt safe. Yes it cost more than the other options. But we always knew that if things went wrong, we had the records and tracking to ensure that problems could be resolved. When I sent my first package using Simple Delivery and saw that the selected courier was Evri, my heart sank.
I then spent some time reading the new Simple Delivery policy. I soon realised that Simple Delivery was in fact an amazing step forward. It solves so many problems and makes things much easier.
When I do anything online. I want it to be as simple secure and as straight forward as possible. In the same way that eBays Global Shipping has made Worldwide sales so easy, so has Simple Delivery.
All you now have to do is list the item and eBay estimates the postage cost automatically. The buyer pays the published postage fee and the seller simply prints the label.
What Are The Benefits of eBay Simple Delivery?
The days or worrying about what shipping service to use are over. It’s all automatic when you list. Yes, you can go into your account preferences and change things, but we haven’t needed too.
What if the parcel is bigger than eBays estimate?
We’ve all done it, estimated the weight and size of a package, only for The Post Office eject it saying it will cost more. If that happens now, eBay have an agreement with Couriers to honour the listed shipping price. This is a real win win.
What is Things Go Wrong?
As long as you package the item correctly and follow the guidelines, if things go wrong, eBay looks after it. This is such a great benefit as it saves a lot of hassle and worry
So, to summarise, all you now have to do is list the item, properly of course and it will use previous data to add the postage charges to the listing. Of course you can absorb the charges and offer free shipping if you prefer to do that. But for the type of things we sell, having postage extra is never usually a problem.
