Is Digital Marketing a Scam?
If Digital Marketing is a scam, then we have been hoodwinked as well. Social media is awash at the moment with claims that Digital Marketing is a scam. Let me say here and now, it’s not, but it does attract scammers.
Saying Digital Marketing is a scam it is the same as saying emails are a scam. Of course they aren’t. Can you get scam emails, yes but that doesn’t mean all emails are scams. The thing same applies to Digital Marketing.
Anything good and worthwhile will attract scammers. When I say scammers, I’m talking about people who just want your money, then run. It’s part of human nature and can’t be avoided, but the trick is to know how to spot scammers.
In this post I’m going to using TikTok as an example, however, scammers are everywhere. Instagram, Etsy, Facebook, you name it and the scammers are there. It’s a real shame because the online income space is a great space to be in.
What is Digital Marketing.
Digital Marketing is simply any type of activity online that involves the buying and selling of products or services. It has become very popular in recent years because compared to a bricks and mortar business, it has low overheads. Often run from home, it doesn’t need special premises, sometimes just a phone or computer.
Over the years, there have been many scams that promise to make you tons of money. Pyramid schemes, some Multi Level Marketing schemes, you know the sort of thing. There are laws on place to protect people against schemes like this, and the same thing applies to Digital Marketing. I’m sad to report that many people and some major courses ignore the law just to make a quick buck.
How to Spot a Scam
There is an old saying, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Good money can be made online. We wouldn’t be in this space if that wasn’t true. But some people on TikTok sell the whole idea as if it just drops out of the sky. I watched one video today where this guy was dancing around his room because he earned $597 while he was asleep. What message does that put over to the audience? All you have to do is buy his course and the money floods in while you sleep. What he isn’t showing are the weeks and months of hard work putting systems into place to get the business up and running. Anyone who implies that you can make X amount a month or they have earned X amount in the last few weeks etc, is almost certainly making false claims.
Check out people bio’s. If they only have a handful of followers, or all of their videos are along the same lines, they are trying to scam you. When I say scam, what I really mean is just take your money and run, They have no interest in after sales help and advice. They just want to move onto the next sale. If you are going to invest a large amount of money, the seller has a duty to ensure you get the best chance of succeeding. It’s easy to fall into the income claim trap. You want to create excitement of course, but don’t fall foul of the law.
There Are Financial Regulations to Stop Income & False Claims
When we started this site back in January 2024, we were very careful not to make false claims. We may have come close a few times, simply by some of the products we sell, but I’m always strict that we explain that we offer the tools, the rest is up to you.
If we had made millions from this site, which we haven’t, that doesn’t mean other people can. Even if the claim is true, implying that other can make the same amount is not allowed. You could write a book explaining how you went from zero to $millions in a year, but you can’t write one saying how others will go from zero to $millions, because you simply cannot guarantee that.
How do I know this? Simply because I did the training using Roadmap Exclusive.
It is one of the few courses out there that goes into this in great detail. One of the popular courses out there at the moment, actually teaches people to make false claims to get the excitement up and attract more customers. This is simply wrong.
Anyone in Digital Marketing is a Salesman
Everyone in this space is a salesman. There is nothing wrong with that, just be honest. The opportunity potential for Digital Marketing is massive. It can change peoples lives, but that is up to the individual. Sell courses as an amazing opportunity, sell them as a way for anyone, if they invest the time to build something great. Don’t make promises, and shut up about how much you’re earned. No one cares and it means nothing.
Am I a Hypocrite.
While writing this, it got me wondering, have I ever done this. The answer is probably yes. I’ve never done to intentionally, but I’m certain if I look back, I’ve said things which could imply results I just can’t guarantee for everyone. That’s why ongoing training is so important. The Roadmap 3.0 was great, but on the back of the murky way some sellers promoted it, Roadmap Exclusive goes into the ethics and legal side in great depth. That’s why I value this investment so much. Even though I’ve completed the course, there is barely a day that goes by where i don’t refer to it.
In conclusion, if you’re promoting anything, just be honest. If your looking to invest in something, make sure you don’t get caught up in some hype TikTok video promising the world and do your own research.
