Turning My Dogs Itchy Skin Into a Marketable Solution
Every great product starts the same way: not with inspiration, not with creativity, not with “being clever”… but with frustration at a problem.
Real problems create real solutions. And real solutions create real opportunities.
This is exactly how one of our newest Hub tools — the Dog Diet Builder — was born. Not from a business plan, but from a simple, everyday problem affecting my own Jack Russell Wren.
And it’s the perfect example of how anyone can turn a personal struggle into something valuable, useful, and marketable.

1. It starts with a real problem
Wren developed itchy skin, sore patches, and constant discomfort. Nothing dramatic — just the kind of issue millions of dog owners face. We knew it wasn’t flea related. Pus, we were spending money at the vets every few months getting her Anal Glands expressed. I know, not pleasant. I was clear that the commercial dog food we were feeding her was the problem. My first thought was to buy the “real” dog food, which is brilliant, but expensive.
I tried:
- premium dog foods
- supplements
- sprays
- advice from other owners
Some helped a little. None solved the problem.
And that’s where every great idea begins:
A problem that affects you… and thousands of other people.
2. Build a simple, practical solution
Instead of guessing, I went back to basics:
- real food
- real stock
- real collagen
- batch cooking
- proper hygiene
- consistent portions
I created a homemade diet that actually worked for Wren. Her skin improved. Her itching reduced. Her stools stabilised. Her comfort changed dramatically.
But then a new problem appeared:
How do you calculate portions, ingredients, stock, supplements, and weekly batches without making it complicated?
So I built a tool — just for myself at first.
3. Turn the solution into a need
Once the system worked, I realised something important:
If I struggled with:
- itchy skin
- expensive food
- confusing advice
- inconsistent portions
- batch‑cooking chaos
…then thousands of other dog owners were struggling too.
That’s when a personal solution becomes a need.
A need is simple:
“This solves a problem I didn’t know how to fix.”
When people see Wren’s skin improving, they don’t see a recipe — they see relief.
4. Turn the need into desire
Desire is emotional.
It’s the moment someone says:
- “I want my dog to feel like that.”
- “I want those results.”
- “I want something simple.”
- “I want to save money.”
- “I want to stop guessing.”
Desire isn’t about the product. It’s about the outcome.
And when you show:
- the batch process
- the cost savings
- the skin improvements
- the simplicity
- the results
…people don’t want the app. They want the transformation.
The app is simply the bridge that gets them there.
5. Package the solution into something people can use
This is where Hostinger AI and The Hub Idea Maker come in.
⭐ Hostinger AI: The perfect tool for turning ideas into apps
It allowed me to:
- build the Dog Diet Builder quickly
- create a clean, simple interface
- add calculators and logic without coding
- host the app instantly
- make it accessible worldwide
- embed it directly into The Hub ecosystem
It’s the ideal platform for anyone who wants to turn a practical idea into a working product — without needing technical skills.

⭐ The Hub Idea Maker: The engine behind great JSON prompts
To make the app smart, structured, and reliable, I used our own Hub Idea Maker to generate:
- JSON logic
- structured prompts
- ingredient lists
- portion calculations
- workflow steps
- user‑friendly outputs
The Idea Maker turns messy thoughts into clean, usable structure — perfect for creating AI apps, AI tools, calculators, planners, and anything that needs logic behind it.
Together, Horizons + Idea Maker gave me everything I needed to turn a personal solution into a polished, public‑facing product.

6. The final result: A real product born from a real problem
The Dog Diet Builder now:
- solves a real problem
- creates clarity
- removes confusion
- saves money
- improves dog health
- gives confidence
- works for real people
And it came from nothing more than:
- a dog with itchy skin
- a need for a better solution
- a simple idea
- the right tools
- and a desire to help others
This is the entire philosophy of The Hub:
Find a real problem → build a simple solution → show the results → let people want the outcome.
You don’t need a big idea. You don’t need a business plan. You don’t need a marketing degree.
You need:
- a real problem
- a simple solution
- a clear outcome
- a way to show the transformation
That’s it.
If you can solve a problem for yourself, you can solve it for others. And if you can solve it for others, you can build something valuable.
We have made the fully working basic version available here, free to use.
